First Post
So some people have asked if we would have a blog now that little C is here. So, I guess I should start one. Especially since today is a day where little C will not take a nap unless she is being held by me. So I have her in the baby bjorn and what better to do but to type a blog while she is napping. I am finally finished with my school stuff so I now get to just be a mom during her naps. Which means that I'm busy doing laundry, cutting coupons and getting the house back in order (well the new order that is our house with a baby) Its funny to me how much stuff a baby can have. She's only been alive for a little over a month and she already has almost as much stuff as I do.
So here's what is going on with little C now that she is 6 weeks old.
She is such a great baby. Night time is awesome! She sleeps really well. When I get her up to eat, she eats fast and goes back to sleep which is nice. When she has problems going back to sleep I lay down with her and she is out like a light. She is so super cuddly and I love it. Even on days like today when she doesn't want me to put her down. I love that I can tell when she hasn't had enough mama time. Yesterday S's family was in town and she got passed around by her amazing grandparents. It was the first time that Grandpa had seen her since we came home from the hospital. Little C was being held near me and she wouldn't take her eyes off of me. I LOVE it! I don't want her to be such a mama's girl that she can't function with other people. But its nice to know that she knows who I am. She has started smiling and I think she laughed a little this morning. I'm so excited to hear what her real little laugh will sound like! I can't wait. She does great with tummy time. She doesn't really like it when she's on the floor on her tummy, but she would stay all day when I put her on my tummy. She can hold her head up for a long time and move it from side to side. She has started grabbing things. That means, hair, clothes, her doll that sits on her changing table. Yesterday at On the Border she put her hand on the table. It was super cute. Little C also loves taking baths. When we pour warm water over her hair she closes her eyes and leans her head back. She's sitting in this sling thing in a baby tub and she'll hang her feet over the sling to be in the water. She is so my child. I love for my feet to be warm.
Here's what is going on in mom world....
We've had a lot of trouble nursing. I keep thinking back to when she was born at the hospital, I should have taken more time to set up a schedule. There were so many people around and so many tests and everything that they had to do all the time that I didn't. I should have been adamant about my nursing time and I wasn't. I don't know if that has anything to do with the issues we've been having but I do regret it. I was told that I had low milk supply and I've been doing everything imaginable to get it up. Pumping, supplements, teas, everything. I've been to see the lactation people several times and they are awesome. I think we could be off of formula but then sometimes little C gets fussy and I hate to think that she is crying because she's hungry, so I give her a bottle. Anyway, we're making it. I can definitely see why some people give up nursing so quickly. But I want to at least make it to three months in some form or fashion and we're over half way there now.
S's parents were here yesterday. I was so excited for little C to be able to see her Grandpa again. What is it about grandpa's that are so special. They're like a whole other breed. I'm so glad that little C will have two amazing grandpas... not to mention grandmas, It's great to be a part of such a great family.
